Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring ICU experience, Impella and CRRT/NXSTAGE proficiency, and an active LA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) within a hospital setting
• Patient assignment is typically 1:2, occasionally flexing to 1:3
• Must float to all ICU units and may float to the ED, PACU, or MS/PCU with respective patient ratios
• Duties include performing lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts
• Equipment used includes Impella, Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA pumps, Servo I ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis machines, Edwards Lifesciences cardiac monitors, Medtronic EVD Management Systems, Arctic Sun TMS, GE Monitors, Hill Rom Beds, Pyxis, and Veratron Bladder Scanner
• Epic is the EMR used and experience is required
• Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:30
• Weekend shifts are required, totaling four per four-week period
• No on-call responsibilities
• Care for critically ill cardiac patients including those requiring advanced device support
• Nurses are responsible for all lab draws, initiating EKGs, and line insertions
• Must be comfortable managing isolation patients, including those with Covid-19
• Limited to 5 days of requested time off during the assignment
• May occasionally float to other critical care and step-down units as needed
• Scrub color not specified–confirm prior to assignment commencement

Requirements

• Active LA or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years ICU nursing experience required; CVICU experience highly preferred
• Hands-on experience with Impella and CRRT/NXSTAGE required
• Current BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications required (CPI may be obtained onsite for a fee)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must know N95 respirator mask size for isolation patient care
• Must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Returning permanent employees must have a minimum 1-year separation from any LCMC facility to be considered
