Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring current BLS and ACLS certifications, PACU/recovery experience, and Epic EMR proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work in a PACU within a hospital universal care center setting
• Serve preoperative, postoperative, inpatient, and outpatient surgical patients
• Shift is day/evening, Monday through Friday, with 8 or 10-hour shifts between 0700 and 2030
• Care for patients recovering from anesthesia in a 14 bay recovery room
• Responsibilities include prepping patients for surgery, Phase II post-op care, pain management, and discharge teaching
• Required to float and may be scheduled in multiple units or locations as needed
• Nurses are responsible for assessment, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care in the immediate post-anesthetic period
• Team provides discharge teaching and pain management for outpatient surgical patients
• Travelers will be prioritized for floating if staffing needs change
• Free parking is available onsite

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• Minimum of two years acute care experience within the last three years
• Recent PACU or recovery room nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required, preferred within the last 12 months
• Basic arrhythmia experience required and must pass a telemetry test prior to start
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the primary work site location
