Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Ortho RN with recent orthopedic experience and a compact or VA RN license for night shifts with weekend and holiday requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work on a Med/Surg Ortho unit caring for adult and geriatric patients, including post-spine procedures
• 36-bed unit with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Fast-paced environment with frequent discharges and admissions during night shifts
• Use of Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, and navy/white scrub attire
• Required to float to other MS/Tele units, including Oncology
• Every other weekend and major holiday shifts required
• Pass/Fail EKG (dysrhythmia) exam on the first day, with study guides provided
• Responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and patient/family education
• Will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and serve as a patient advocate
• Travel nursing experience is not required
• Major holiday coverage is mandatory as part of scheduling expectations
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Professional dress code is navy or white scrubs

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• At least 1 year of RN experience, with specific experience in orthopedic care
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Willingness to float to other med/surg or telemetry units
• Additional documentation as requested by the employer
