Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position requiring BLS, NIHSS, and proficiency in lab draws and IV starts.

Responsibilities

• Position is on a 29-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio typically 1:5-6
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and major holiday required
• Nurses are responsible for drawing labs and starting IVs
• Uses Alaris Pumps and Hercules Beds
• Two PCTs when at full census
• Candidates must work EKG exam upon start with study materials provided
• Scrub colors allowed: navy blue, white, or combinations of the two
• Use of Epic EMR preferred
• RNs conduct the full nursing process including assessment, care planning, treatment, and evaluation
• RNs serve as a point of contact for care coordination and patient advocacy
• Team structure includes full census support from PCTs
• Holiday coverage is required as part of the schedule
• Study guides for EKG testing are available prior to start
• Commitment to collaborative interdisciplinary care is expected

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• At least 1 year of RN experience required
• Prior MS/Tele nursing experience required
• Must be proficient in performing lab draws and starting IVs
• Must pass EKG exam within two attempts on first day
• Cannot reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
