Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on a 29-bed unit caring for ortho, neuro, and telemetry patients, requiring 2 years of experience and ACLS/BLS/NIH certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 29 beds
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neurological, and cardiac telemetry cases
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6 depending on acuity
• Care for patients with wounds, vacs, PICC lines, central lines, and use of BiPAP, CPAP, high flow devices, and nasal cannulas
• Handle drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Insulin which are typically non-titratable
• Required to work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday
• Nurses must read and verify telemetry strips once per shift using Epic EMR
• Ancillary support staff and phlebotomy available depending on shift and census
• Position does not accept local candidates within a 50-mile radius
• Nurses are responsible for the care and monitoring of complex medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Responsibilities include care coordination, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and patient advocacy
• Team includes 1-2 support staff per shift and access to phlebotomy for lab draws
• Nurses must adhere to navy blue scrub dress code
• Study guides are available for the required dysrhythmia exam
• Holiday coverage is required on a rotating basis

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
• Experience with insulin gtts required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam on the first day with two attempts permitted
