Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level I trauma center night shift position requiring BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, CPI, and travel experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a large Emergency Department within a Level I trauma center setting
• Shift is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 12-hour nights, with some on-call requirement
• Emergency Department has 73 rooms plus 24 hallway beds, no separate fast track area
• Patient census approximately 350 per day
• Must be willing to float to offsite EDs in Fairfax City (10 beds) and Reston/Herndon area (7 beds)
• Must cover one major and one minor holiday per assignment
• Uses Epic EMR
• Strong emergency nursing skills required as trauma patients are managed in the center, though this role will not directly treat trauma cases
• Psych patients are medically cleared and admitted, not held in the ED
• Security staff and sitters available in the ED for suicidal patients
• No separate fast track; non-acute patients seen in the main ED
• Holiday and on-call coverage required as scheduled

Requirements

• Active RN license in Virginia or a compact state
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and CPI certifications
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience
• Experience in Level I or II trauma centers required
• Epic EMR experience highly preferred
• Previous travel experience highly preferred
