Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown position specializing in general med/oncology patients with chemotherapy administration required.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital stepdown unit caring for general medicine and oncology stepdown patients
• Patient assignments range from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on acuity and support staff availability
• Chemotherapy administered via IV and starting IVs are key responsibilities
• Uses Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, and Epic EMR
• Day shift (4x12 hours), 7:00am - 7:30pm, with every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Floating may be required to other medical-surgical areas, including AU and ER, to care for med-surg patients
• Block scheduling may be accommodated based on request
• Stepdown unit supports lower nurse-to-patient ratios for chemotherapy admits
• Charge RN typically not included in patient assignments
• Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment
• Weekend assignments are designated by the manager, other days may be self-scheduled
• Any RTO requested after offer is subject to manager approval

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• ONCC or ONS certification required (pending ONS accepted, ONCC must be in hand)
• Minimum 2 years of progressive care or stepdown experience required
• Competency with Epic EMR, IV insertion, and IV chemotherapy administration required
