Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown unit position in Michigan with chemo administration skills and oncology certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work in a stepdown (PCU) unit caring for general medicine and oncology stepdown patients
• Patient assignments are typically 1:4-6, with support staff if ratios rise and reduced assignments for chemotherapy admits
• Uses Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
• EPIC is used for documentation
• Night shifts (4x12 hours), 19:00-07:30
• Required to work every other weekend
• No call responsibilities
• Float to other med surg areas, including AU and ER, to care for med surg patients
• Block scheduling may be accommodated by request
• Provide nursing care for general medicine and oncology stepdown patients
• Charge RN is typically not assigned patient care duties
• Support staff is provided if nurse-patient ratios increase
• Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment
• RTO after an offer must be discussed with the manager on site
• Self-scheduling available for weekdays, with weekends assigned by management

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• ONCC or ONS certification is required, ONCC must be in hand; pending ONS accepted
• Minimum of 2 years PCU or stepdown nursing experience
• Experience administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs
