Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a Chemo Certified RN for an Oncology Stepdown Unit position requiring IV chemo administration and a MI RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in an Oncology Stepdown Unit caring for general medicine and oncology patients
• Patient population requires stepdown-level care with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Administer chemotherapy via IV and start IVs
• Uses Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, and EPIC for documentation
• Night shift (4x12 hour shifts, 19:00–07:30)
• Required to work every other weekend
• Will float to other med/surg areas, including AU and ER, to care for med/surg patients
• No call required
• Block scheduling may be accommodated upon request
• Weekends are assigned by the manager or scheduler; remaining shifts are requested through self-scheduling
• Support staff provided if patient ratios flex higher, and assignment ratios are decreased for chemo admits
• Charge RN does not typically take patient assignments
• Must be available the first two weeks of the assignment
• All RTO requests after offer must be discussed with the manager on site

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license in hand
• Current BLS certification from AHA
• Current NIHSS certification
• ONCC or ONS chemotherapy certification required; pending ONS will be accepted, ONCC must be in hand
• Minimum 2 years of PCU or stepdown experience
• Experience with administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs
• Experience charting in Epic EMR
