Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Oncology Stepdown position with ONCC or ONS certification and recent PCU/Stepdown experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Oncology stepdown unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes general medical and oncology stepdown cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4-6, with ratios decreased for chemotherapy admits
• Uses Welch Allyn Vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
• Documentation is completed using Epic EMR
• Night shifts (4x12 hours) from 19:00 to 07:30
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating to other med/surg areas including AU and ER to care for med/surg patients
• No on-call responsibilities
• Responsible for administering chemotherapy and caring for stepdown oncology patients
• Assignment length is 13 weeks with 36 or 48 hour schedules available
• Block scheduling may be considered and self-scheduling is available for non-weekend shifts
• Support staff available if patient ratios increase; charge RN not typically assigned patients
• Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment
• Time off requests after offer must be discussed with the manager

Requirements

• Active MI RN license
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIH certifications
• ONCC or ONS chemotherapy certification required (ONS may be pending, ONCC must be in hand)
• Minimum two years of prior PCU/Stepdown experience
• Experience in administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs
• Experience charting in Epic preferred
