Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in ortho care with Epic EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital environment
Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical cases
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 5-6:1, with potential to flex up to 7:1 in rare cases
12-hour day shifts with start time at 6:45 AM and end at 7:15 PM
Schedule offers 36 or 48 hours per week with block scheduling options (F/S/S or S/S/M)
Every other weekend required; missed weekend shifts must be made up on subsequent weekends
Floating required to other med/surg units within the facility based on census and staffing needs
Unit has an average daily census of 37 and a total of 39 beds
Epic EMR is used and experience with Epic is required
Responsible for managing pain and providing post-surgical care for orthopedic and neuro spine patients
Covid-positive patients may be on the unit unless transferred to ICU
Holiday time off cannot be approved; no holiday RTO requests will be considered
No RTO allowed after booking and not permitted to be worked out onsite
The work environment is fast-paced, requiring strong time management and adaptability
Block scheduling options available for preferred work-life balance
Local candidates are accepted for this position

Requirements

Active NC or compact RN license
Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience with demonstrated ortho experience
BCLS and NIHSS certifications required
Proficiency in starting IVs and telemetry monitoring
Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Epic EMR experience is required for all candidates
Unit will consider first-time travelers with Epic experience
