Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a LA or compact RN license and strong cardiac care skills.
Details
- Hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week from 18:45 to 7:15
- Cares for patients with a variety of diagnoses including chest pain, arrhythmias, CHF, MI, and post-operative cardiac and vascular surgeries
- May be assigned to medical-surgical overflow with cases such as GI bleed, sepsis, CVA, and COVID+
- Responsibilities include pre/post cath lab care and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Handles specialized equipment including telemetry monitors, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
- Can be floated to all other inpatient units as needed
- Every other holiday coverage is required
Requirements
- Active LA or compact state RN license
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
- Demonstrated proficiency in telemetry and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with post-MI, post-cath, and cardiac surgical care
- Skilled in port access, blood pressure medication administration, central and peripheral line management, IV starts, wound care, and management of chest tubes
- Proficiency in titrating and managing cardiac and vasoactive infusions
- Must live at least 65 miles from the facility (local travelers not accepted)
Additional Information
- May be assigned to an emergency team with requirements to remain at the facility during events or serve as part of the relief team as directed by management
- Responsibilities include sheath pulling at bedside for certain cardiac procedures
- No guaranteed scheduling requests including block shifts
- All certifications must be through AHA
- Required to cover every other holiday
- NURSYS report required for consideration
