Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an acute care hospital position with strong acute care experience and state licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Primary setting is inpatient acute care and emergency department
• Work with a diverse patient population including medicine, surgery, orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, and oncology
• Position serves a Level 1 trauma emergency department, including care for boarding patients, non-operative fractures, and acute pain management
• Shift is Monday through Friday, either 8:00 am–4:30 pm or 9:00 am–7:30 pm
• Requires one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) shift per four-week period, with a weekday off provided that week
• May float within therapy service lines as needed, but not to sister facilities
• Uses EPIC for charting and documentation
• Short-term acute care, teaching hospital environment
• No on-call responsibilities
• Responsibilities include assessments, documentation, patient and family education, and safety and injury prevention
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Applicants must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
• No more than 7 days of requested time off permitted during the 13-week contract; no time off allowed during first week of orientation
• Returning permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as travelers
• Travelers are limited to 18 consecutive months on assignment, requiring a 3-month break afterward
• Scrub color is black or grey
• Parking information and passes are provided during orientation

Requirements

• Active state Physical Therapist license required, or pending license where applicable
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience required
• Experience working in Level 1 trauma or emergency department preferred
• Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of patient populations
• EPIC charting experience required for certain units
