Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a General Medicine PCU position requiring vent experience and proficiency with Epic charting.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hybrid Progressive Care Unit (PCU) featuring 10 PCU beds and 2 ICU beds
• Care for vent/trach dependent patients, including those with chronic trach and vent needs
• Typical patient diagnoses include DKA, COPD, sepsis, suicide/overdose, chronic respiratory failure, and renal failure
• Remote telemetry monitoring is utilized on the unit
• Average patient ratio is 1:5
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend requirement is every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
• Must float within skillset to related units as needed
• Epic EMR experience required
• Daily responsibilities include ventilator management, telemetry monitoring, and care for patients with complex medical needs
• Tele-sitting is implemented to enhance coverage by Patient Care Techs
• Will work one holiday per 13-week contract
• All requested time off must be submitted with initial consideration
• Facility may call off up to one shift per two-week period
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Local candidates are considered; refer to radius criteria if applicable

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required for consideration (pending license accepted for non-compact state single-state license holders only)
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required
• Recent vent and tracheostomy care experience required
• Skills needed include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care, medication administration with cardiac drips (no titration), respiratory support, and rapid response/code team activation
• Experience using Epic for charting is required
• Must provide two references for consideration
• Copy of driver’s license and SSN required
