Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position specializing in post-op GI and wound care with night shifts and strong post-op expertise required.

Responsibilities

• Work on a Med/Surg unit with a specialized focus on post-op GI and wound care
• Patient population includes post-op cases such as pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions, wound and post-op infections, and various surgical recovery patients
• Procedures include pancreatectomy, esophagectomy, Whipple, colectomy, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hepatic resection, bariatric surgery, gastrectomy, parathyroidectomy, and exploratory laparotomy
• Utilizes equipment such as PEG, PEJ, PCA, per drain, JP drain, wound vac, nephrostomy tubes, ileostomy, colostomy, urostomy, and hemo vac
• Night shifts (3x12 hours), 18:45-07:15
• Unit manager may assign you to an Emergency Team during critical events
• Responsibilities include caring for acute post-op medical and surgical patients with a variety of diagnoses and procedures
• Team assignment may include participation in an Emergency Team with mandatory onsite presence during emergency events
• Requests for time off must be included in your profile and discussed during interview
• All holiday and emergency response requirements are determined by the unit manager

Requirements

• Active LA or Compact RN license required
• AHA certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years acute care experience on a Med/Surg post-op unit
• Prior completion of at least one travel contract required
• Post-op experience with GI and wound care strongly required
• Experience with colostomy and surgical drains preferred
• Distance requirement: must live more than 65 miles from the facility
