Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab RN with at least 2 years of cath lab experience and an active IL RN license for a 13-week assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital Cardiac Cath Lab setting
• Trauma Level 2 environment with two labs and six pre/post beds
• Patient population includes STEMI, stroke, heart caths, peripheral angiograms, IVC and temporary pacemaker placements
• Average caseload is three caths and two angios per day
• Utilizes Epic EMR and Philips monitoring equipment
• Scheduled for four 9-hour shifts per week, with rotating weekends
• On-call required 2-3 nights per week, every third weekend, and 2 holidays per year
• Rarely required to float, and will not take a patient assignment if floated
• Perform cardiac catheterizations, angiograms, drain and line placements, IVC filter placement, and assist with temporary pacemaker insertions
• Work with a team including a charge nurse (who may also take assignments) and cath lab techs
• Unit-specific orientation is typically one week (four shifts)
• Hospital-provided scrubs are required
• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels as this is a drug-free campus
• No COVID vaccine requirement
• Local candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles are accepted but may be subject to different pay rates

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac cath lab RN experience
• Ability to read telemetry strips and titrate IV drips
• Proficiency with most IV medications commonly used in the cath lab
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with peripheral angio cases, IR, or neuro interventions preferred
