Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring at least 2 years of recent large hospital experience and an active ND or Compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the 5SE Medical Surgical unit within an acute care hospital
- Cares for both general Med/Surg and surgical oncology patients
- Unit is a Level 1 Trauma Center with 47 beds
- Nurse to patient ratios are 5:1 on day shift and 6:1 on night shift
- Uses EPIC for documentation, with additional equipment including AccuDose, bladder scanner, Phillips monitors, and telemetry
- 12-hour rotating day/night shifts with every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Assigned to home unit but may float to any Med/Surg unit across the campus
- Provide nursing care to Med/Surg and surgical oncology patients in collaboration with inter-professional teams
- Competency in age and population-specific standards for assigned clinical setting is expected
- Structured orientation includes 1 day lead center training and two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor on the unit
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Holiday coverage is required per unit schedule
- Candidates must not reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility; local rates apply for those living 60 to 80 miles away
- Disclosure of any previous employment with the health system is required; must have separated for at least 6 months prior to consideration
Requirements
- Active North Dakota or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience in a hospital with at least 200 beds and Level 2 or higher trauma status
- Previous travel experience required unless you have multiple years in a large Level 1 center
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Experience with EPIC charting required
- Experience with surgical oncology patients is preferred but not required
