Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Oncology unit, requiring a compact or OH RN license and two years of nursing experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry Oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
- Patient population includes all solid tumor cancers and medical-surgical needs
- Common diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as chemotherapy encounters
- Staffing ratios are typically 1:4, but may be 1:5 at times
- Scheduling includes rotating 12-hour day/night shifts or nights, with assignments assessed every 4 weeks
- Weekends required based on unit needs
- Self-scheduling requests are considered before final schedule posting
- EMR: Epic
- Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units
- Orientation includes a first week of Mon-Fri dayshift and a second week of 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor
- Unit focuses on all stages of cancer care, infection prevention, and patient fall reduction
- Care provided includes both cancer-related and general med/surg needs
- First week orientation is days; subsequent orientation includes unit-based preceptorship
- Dress code and holiday coverage not specified
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- Competency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation required
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- ONS Chemo certification preferred
