Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in an acute care setting, requiring a current NY RN license and ACLS/BLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital
• 25+ beds plus hall beds, serving all age groups
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:5
• Uses Epic EMR system
• 12-hour night shifts available: 3p-3a or 7p-7a, with flexible scheduling
• Every other weekend and rotating holiday coverage required
• No floating required
• Department is a NYS Designated Stroke Center
• Tele skills and the ability to read strips required
• Cares for common emergency cases and stroke patients
• Floor-specific orientation is provided
• Charge nurse and nurse aide support available, though charge nurse roles are not assigned to travelers
• RT available 24/7, but no 24/7 pharmacy or IV team
• Must wear any color scrubs
• All requested time off must be included at time of application
• Rotating holidays required as scheduled

Requirements

• Active New York RN license in good standing is required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience
• Certifications required: ACLS and BLS
• PALS certification required
• Experience with telemetry and strip reading
• Ability to manage drips and vents in the ED setting
