Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical Oncology position in an ambulatory setting, requiring a current MA RN license and oncology background.
Responsibilities
- Ambulatory surgical oncology center setting
- Primary assignment on the Surgical Oncology unit
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. shifts
- 13-week contract
- Clinical and nonclinical workdays with minimal direct surgical patient care
- May assist with minor procedures such as wound vac management and post-surgical drainage
- Involvement in pre-surgical checklists and provider assistance
- Pre-op/post-op care responsibilities focus on coordination and follow-up
- Responsibilities include assisting clinic providers, monitoring inbox messages, placing standing orders, and communicating with providers
- Follow up after surgery, monitor for complications, address concerns, and recognize emergencies via phone or messaging
- Mostly coordination and clinical decision-making rather than direct hands-on patient care
- Expect to work both clinical and administrative days
- Submit requested time off at the time of application
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required at time of consideration
- Background in surgical, medical, or oncology nursing strongly preferred
- Prior telephonic or triage experience is helpful
- Experience with surgical clearance is beneficial
- COVID vaccine with booster and current flu vaccination required (medical exemptions allowed)
- Must pass Tele/ECG and Medication Tests
- No local candidates within a 50-mile radius
- Minimum 6-month separation required for prior employees of the facility
