Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele role requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and active NC or compact RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 32-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Serves a patient population including total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomies, amputations, hip fractures, SBO, NG tubes, and medical overflow
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6 on nights
• 12-hour night shifts from 1845 to 0700 with every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Expected to float within Region 3 facilities as appropriate to scope of practice
• Unit uses Epic for EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Support includes CNA, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist and intensivist, and telemetry monitoring tech
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays per contract expectations
• Scrub color requirement is navy

• First-time travelers are accepted
• Up to 6 days of RTO can be approved excluding holidays, with additional requirements to meet contracted hours
• Minimum of one professional reference from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN within the past year required for consideration
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility—locals are not accepted
• Returning employees must have a separation of at least 1 year from any AHSE facility following a permanent position

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Ability to perform cardiac rhythm interpretation and manage non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone)
• Proficiency in wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
