Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment requiring recent Epic experience and prior travel in large hospital settings.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Care for adult medical-surgical patients with telemetry needs
• Responsibilities include NG tube insertion, peripheral IV insertion, and bedside telemetry strip interpretation
• Uses Epic EMR system, with experience required within the past two years
• 12-hour night shifts, schedule includes every other weekend or as needed for unit coverage
• No block scheduling allowed
• Assignment length is 16 weeks
• Role includes bedside NG tube and peripheral IV insertion, as well as interpreting telemetry strips
• Must have reliable transportation due to limited public transit options
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November to April
• Bi-weekly orientation is available on Mondays
• Holiday shifts and schedule adjustments may be required based on unit needs

Requirements

• Active VT or Compact RN license is required, or eligibility to apply within 24 hours of acceptance
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required (NIHSS must be completed before starting)
• Telemetry certification is preferred
• Minimum of 5 years’ Med/Surg Tele experience or 3 years of Telemetry experience required
• Must have completed two travel assignments in 300+ bed facilities or have prior acute care experience at a UVMHN facility
• Prior travel nursing experience is required
• Recent Epic experience within the past two years is mandatory
