Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position requiring cardiac monitoring proficiency and EPIC charting experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a hospital setting
• General medicine and observation patient population
• Patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:5, with a goal of 4:1
• Remote telemetry monitoring is utilized with on-unit monitors and additional Patient Care Tech support
• Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week, 6:45 pm to 7:15 am
• Weekend shifts required, either every other weekend or six weekend shifts per six-week schedule block
• Holiday coverage required for one holiday per 13-week contract
• Floating to units within skillset is required
• Uses EPIC charting system; EPIC experience required
• Responsibilities include monitoring and managing patients in a progressive care setting with a focus on cardiac and general medical conditions
• Participation in Rapid Response and Code teams is expected
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Must be willing to work assigned holiday during the contract
• Floating within the scope of clinical expertise may be required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted only from non-compact states)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proven experience in Telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings is required
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, Code team involvement, and administration of cardiac drips (no titration)
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care required
• Experience with chest tubes, trach care, PICC line management, and medication administration
• Ability to manage respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Submission requires copy of driver’s license and social security card
