Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with IN or compact licensure and recent inpatient experience for a night shift position requiring weekend flexibility and floating.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Medical Surgical unit with Neuro/Stroke patient population in a hospital setting
- Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6
- Night shift position with 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Float may be required to other levels of care such as Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU at nearby affiliate hospitals
- EMR system used is Cerner, and experience with Cerner charting is required
- Travelers must be able to work 50% of weekends during the contract
- Charge nurse duties may be required based on operational needs, with training provided
- Travelers must be open to floating throughout the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
- Teaching facility environment, with possible responsibilities as a preceptor and having students shadow
- Must be willing to take charge nurse responsibilities or be open to training for charge role
- Call-ins require making up missed shifts during the pay period or adding them to the end of the contract depending on FTE status
- Up to 5 days of RTO (requested time off) may be auto-approved
- Holiday coverage requires working at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Prior permanent or PRN employees must wait at least 12 months before reapplying as a traveler
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license in hand or fingerprint application submitted for consideration
- BLS (BCLS) certification required; AHA or RQI accepted and must be current
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing school required
- At least 18 months to 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Experience in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and IV starts required
- Skill in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias preferred
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Not accepting local candidates for Med/Surg positions
