Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on a 30-bed unit requiring OH or compact RN licensure and BLS/ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Position is on a 30-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with orthopedic, bariatric, and general med/surg patients
• Remote telemetry monitoring with up to 6L nasal cannula and intermittent BiPAP use
• Drips administered include Heparin; patients may have IVs, ports, and PICCs
• Team nursing model with 1 RN and 1 LPN, 2 techs per shift, and a HUC during days
• Nurse to patient ratio up to 1:10
• 12-hour night shifts required
• Every other weekend and every other holiday shifts required
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Passing an EKG exam required on the first day (two attempts allowed)
• Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and patient/family teaching
• Must effectively coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team
• Supports patients with multi-system needs and adapts care to rapidly changing conditions
• First day EKG study guides provided
• Goal is to keep charge nurse out of staffing ratios
• Holiday work is assigned on a rotating basis
• This position does not accept local candidates within a 50-mile radius

Requirements

• Active RN license in OH or compact state required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Electrocardiogram (EKG) test must be passed for consideration
• Experience with orthopedic, bariatric, and med/surg patient populations preferred
• Experience with remote telemetry, IVs, ports, and PICC lines preferred
• EPIC EHR experience preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
