Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a high-acuity PCU/Stepdown position requiring ventilator experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Position is within a 28-bed PCU/Stepdown unit
• Handles high-acuity ICU stepdown patients including respiratory, renal, surgical, and trauma cases
• Patient ratios are typically 1:4-5, with variable CNA and charge nurse staffing support
• Specializes in ventilator and tracheostomy care, including BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow, and Airvo
• Common drips include Cardizem and Amiodarone with no pressors used
• Frequent insulin drip administration required
• Night shifts are 12 hours in length
• Requires floating to like or lower acuity units including other PCU, SDU, IMC, and lower levels of care

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience and strong higher acuity experience mandatory
• Ventilator management experience required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia/EKG exam (study guide provided and two attempts allowed)
• Insulin drip management experience required
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Duties include comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, and evaluation in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
• Role involves medication administration, including titration of specific cardiac drips under unit protocols
• Expectation to serve as patient advocate and coordinate care with families and other departments
• Responsible for managing multi-system organ failure and multisystem trauma patients
• Charge RN takes a patient assignment on night shifts
• Study guides are provided for required EKG testing
• Dress code requires professional clinical attire as per facility policy
• First-day pass/fail EKG testing is mandatory
