Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring an OH or compact RN license, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 30-bed ICU serving MICU, SICU, and some neuro patients
• Non-trauma ICU environment with stabilized traumas transferred out
• Patient ratios typically range from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on staffing
• Specialized procedures and equipment include arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, ports, vents, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow oxygen
• Drip titration for critical patients, including Heparin and other critical drips
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Night shifts use telemedicine intensivist coverage and hospitalist for escalation
• Support from patient care techs when census exceeds 15 patients
• Epic EMR in use (Epic experience preferred)
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Responsible for patient assessments, developing and implementing care plans, and evaluating outcomes collaboratively
• Manages critical care interventions including ventilator management, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Acts as a resource and liaison for patient care coordination between departments and family members
• Expected to adapt to rapidly changing patient needs and use clinical judgement in urgent situations
• Pass/fail EKG testing is required on the first day with study materials provided
• First-time travelers are eligible for consideration

Requirements

• Current OH or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience in ICU required
• Certification in BLS and ACLS required
• NIHSS certification required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG exam must be passed within two attempts (study guides provided)
• Experience with LVOs, EVDs, lumbar drains, Swans, IABP, Impella, and CRRT preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Position will not consider local candidates residing within 50 miles
