Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN with at least two years of large emergency department experience and a NM or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a hospital emergency department
• Responsible for care of varied ED patient population in a fast-paced environment
• 12-hour variable shifts, three days per week
• Floating may be required between departments or local locations within 20 miles
• Role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team
• Direct patient care responsibilities include administering medication and treatments, as well as addressing patient and family learning needs
• The RN may supervise LPNs and assistive personnel during shifts
• Successful completion of BCA test required on first day during orientation; failure to pass after two attempts will result in termination
• Compliance with hospital protocols, standards of care, and participation in competency and protocol education are required
• Returning travelers who were previously employed as permanent staff must have a one-year gap before reapplying

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required
• Minimum two years of recent experience in a large emergency department required
• Must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required, completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN or ASN) required
• Epic EMR experience preferred but not required; onsite training provided if needed
• Successful completion of onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test required prior to starting assignment, with one opportunity for retest if needed
• Candidates who were permanent staff must wait one year before being reconsidered as a traveler
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no locals allowed)
