Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Alaska requiring an AK RN license and strong critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 35-bed Med/Surg unit caring for adult patients before and after surgery or those receiving medical management
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
- Varied 12-hour shifts including days and nights, with some on-call night shifts
- Uses computerized charting with Meditech
- No floating to other units is required
- Provide care for a diverse adult patient population in a fast-paced environment
- Opportunity to expand knowledge and easily transition to other specialties
- Must supply own scrubs; all colors allowed except royal blue, forest green, and bright red
- Annual educational requirements must be completed
Requirements
- Active Alaska RN license required
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience, with 1-3 years of acute care or relevant experience depending on RN level
- Demonstrated critical thinking and organizational skills
