Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Alaska requiring an AK RN license and strong critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 35-bed Med/Surg unit caring for adult patients before and after surgery or those receiving medical management
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
• Varied 12-hour shifts including days and nights, with some on-call night shifts
• Uses computerized charting with Meditech
• No floating to other units is required
• Provide care for a diverse adult patient population in a fast-paced environment
• Opportunity to expand knowledge and easily transition to other specialties
• Must supply own scrubs; all colors allowed except royal blue, forest green, and bright red
• Annual educational requirements must be completed

Requirements

• Active Alaska RN license required
• Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
• Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience, with 1-3 years of acute care or relevant experience depending on RN level
• Demonstrated critical thinking and organizational skills
