Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Progressive Care Unit position requiring a NE or compact RN license and strong critical care skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 35-bed Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) in an acute care hospital setting
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4-5
• Required to titrate drips including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
• Use Epic EMR system
• 12-hour night shifts with required work every other weekend and every third holiday
• Floating to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed
• On-site charge nurse present and aided by patient care techs with 1:10 or 2:20 ratios
• No on-call responsibility
• Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
• First week includes onboarding, then 1-2 days of on-unit orientation
• Artificial nails are not permitted for patient care staff
• A positive attitude, teamwork, good communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential for success
• RTO must be requested up front and is limited to 7 or fewer days in a 13-week contract
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Requirements

• Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent stepdown or PCU experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Driver's license required to verify address for 50-mile radius rule
• Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN employees of any facility associated with CommonSpirit within the past year
• Professional references: one supervisor reference from the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 years
