Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment with mandatory telemetry and EPIC experience and a 50-mile residential radius requirement.

Responsibilities

Position is in an inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit
Patient population includes adults with multiple co-morbidities and a focus on stroke (neuro) care
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-1:6
Night shifts, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
Floating required between all affiliated facilities
Care tasks include feeding tube management, port access, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC management, starting IVs, CVA, nasal cannula, isolation precautions, and wound vac use
Uses EPIC EMR; experience is mandatory
Telemetry remote monitoring required; on-unit monitoring preferred
Responsible for comprehensive care of patients with multi-system conditions and neuro/stroke specialty needs
Work environment requires adaptability to frequent floating between several facilities in the system
Holiday coverage and every other weekend are expected as part of the schedule
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
No EKG exam study materials are provided; preparation before compliance is recommended

Requirements

Active NC or compact state RN license
Minimum 2 years of RN experience
Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
EPIC EMR experience required
Experience with patient ratios of 1:5-1:6
Telemetry remote monitoring experience required
Proficiency in feeding tube care, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line management required
Must pass a mandatory EKG exam during compliance process
Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local rates do not apply
