Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele float pool position with Epic experience and a NH or compact RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital float pool covering MS/Tele and Med-Surg units
• Primarily assigned to a 6-bed observation unit managing increased patient census
• Adult and geriatric patient population with cardiac, respiratory, post-STEMI cath, and stroke diagnoses
• Average daily census of 30 with a patient ratio of 1:5
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend required
• May float to Med-Surg units as needed
• Special procedures may include post-dialysis care and support for CAPD executed by CAPD-trained RNs
• Uses Pyxis medication system and SBAR for communication
• Epic EMR experience required
• Responsible for patient assessment, monitoring telemetry, and administering patient care in a high-acuity setting
• Support provided from pharmacy, phlebotomy, rapid response teams, and other allied services
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travelers within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
• Scrub and dress code policies will be provided during orientation

Requirements

• Current NH or compact state RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years Med-Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Current ACLS and BCLS certifications from AHA or Red Cross required
• Epic charting experience required
• Telemetry skills including interpretation of cardiac rhythms and caliper use required
• Ability to pass a proctored telemetry exam on arrival within 60 minutes
• Patient care experience with adults and geriatrics in comparable settings
• Charge RN experience preferred
• References required for job consideration
