Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Stepdown RN with strong cardiac and post-op CABG/valve skills for a telemetry-focused night shift assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 36-bed stepdown unit specializing in pre- and post-op open heart management and advanced cardiac care
• Patient population includes CABG, valve, mitral clip, TAVR, thoracotomy, and lung cases such as pneumothorax and hemothorax
• Continuous telemetry monitoring of advanced care cardiac patients
• Targeted nurse-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6
• Epic EMR experience required
• Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Required to work every other weekend and holiday
• Floating may occur within specialty clusters and to multiple hospital campus locations within 15 miles
• Travelers are assigned as first to float per facility needs
• Responsibilities include care of post-op cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, chest tube and cardiac drip management
• Will be fitted for N95 mask unless PAPR is issued or required
• Navy blue scrubs required
• All RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application and are subject to manager approval
• First-time travelers are considered, with travel experience preferred
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• IV start, NIHSS, and cardiac drip titration skills required
• Minimum 1.5 years recent SD or PCU stepdown experience with post-op CABG and valve care
• Documented experience in a 1:5 nurse-patient ratio required; ICU-only experience does not qualify
• Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment before starting
• Ability to read and interpret EKG/telemetry strips
