Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN with an active IL license and advanced skills in vascular, ophthalmology, and general surgery for a teaching, Level II trauma hospital.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital operating room setting with 16 operating rooms
• Patient ratio is 1:1 for all shifts
• Handles cases in vascular, general, ophthalmology, urology, and trauma surgeries
• 5x8 hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Call is pre-assigned with 1-2 shifts per week required
• Required to work 2-3 weekend days per 8-week schedule
• Holiday coverage requires either picking up a holiday call assignment or filling in a gap as needed
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Scrub apparel is provided
• This is a teaching and magnet hospital with a Level II trauma designation
• Will participate in scheduled OR call and holiday coverage as needed
• RTO (time off) requests should ideally not exceed 5 days
• Free onsite parking is available for employees
• Locals are accepted for this position with no radius restriction

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of application
• Minimum of 2 years of recent OR RN experience
• BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred
• Experience in vascular, ophthalmology, and general surgery required
• Specific case experience required in endo/laparoscopic, urology, vascular, trauma amputation, and ophthalmology procedures
• Experience with DaVinci robotic cases preferred
• Experience with electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords required
• Knowledge and skills in blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, infection control, laser and radiation safety, and universal protocol procedures are required
• Vascular call experience required
• CVOR and Hybrid OR experience preferred
• First-time travelers are not accepted
