Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position caring for adult and geriatric patients; a GA or compact RN license and 2 years of ICU experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit within a hospital setting
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GI bleed, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2, occasionally up to 1:3
• 24 ICU rooms with an average daily census of 19 patients
• Uses Epic for electronic medical records, Pyxis medication system, and SBAR communication
• Night shifts (3x12 hours, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Expected to work one major holiday per assignment period; if assignment covers two major holidays, both must be worked; if it covers three, two must be worked
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off is allowed, not including the first week of assignment and subject to holiday policy
• No travel pairs allowed for same shift and unit
• Scrub color requirement is navy blue
• Full compliance with onboarding and documentation is required to start on time
• Clinical screening and unit guidelines determine final fit
• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• First-time travelers are accepted

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience with adult and geriatric critical care populations
• Ability to manage complex ICU cases including CRRT
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Two supervisory professional references (manager or above) highly preferred
• Returning travelers must be away from all Piedmont facilities for at least 1 year before returning
