Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to join a PACU team, requiring at least one year of PACU or critical care experience and a NJ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Care for surgical patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations
• Flexible shifts: start at 9am, 10am, or 11am with 10 or 12 hour day shifts, 4 days per week
• Position may require floating to a nearby sister hospital
• Uses Epic EMR system and Epic experience is preferred
• Responsible for thorough patient assessment and direct patient care from pre-operative to post-anesthesia phases
• Educates patients and families regarding surgical procedures and recovery processes
• Maintains accurate and complete documentation following established guidelines
• Demonstrates professional practice and accountability as part of the perioperative care team
• Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals including use of universal protocols and patient identification procedures
• Follows proper safety techniques for patient transfer and equipment usage
• Scrub attire must comply with department standards
• Returning travelers may work up to one calendar year before a mandatory 30-60 day break is required before returning

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Minimum of 1 year recent PACU or critical care experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
• CCRN or CPAN certification preferred
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
