Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an acute rehabilitation unit position requiring an active IL license and strong neuro skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in a post-acute, 29-bed acute rehab unit
- Patient population includes neuro, neurosurgery, amputations, multi-trauma, cardiac, and complex medical cases such as tracheostomies (without ventilator management)
- Patient ratios are 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Day shift is 7:00 am – 7:30 pm and night shift is 7:00 pm – 7:30 am
- Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
- Floating required to LTAC and med-surg units; will not float to HAU unless trained
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Unit features PT/OT/ST therapy and nurse aides with a 1:9/10 ratio
- Non-monitored telemetry available; RNs utilize tele packs but do not interpret telemetry strips
- Responsibilities include providing rehab nursing care to complex patient populations
- Unit does not have charge nurses; house supervisors available
- Two days of classroom orientation and 2-3 days/nights with a preceptor are provided, including QRP and rehab documentation training
- Dress code allows any color scrubs; no t-shirts unless approved
- COVID vaccination is not required for employment
- Local candidates are accepted, with a local rate applying for those within 50 miles of the facility
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required at time of consideration or proof that application has been initiated
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Strong neuro clinical skills needed
- Ability to attend and participate in team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
- Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels
