Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position in Illinois with Epic and Level 1 Trauma experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Clinical Resource Unit (float pool)
• Float to multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Ortho, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab
• Provide care to a diverse patient population with medical diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, and post-surgical cases
• Night shift schedule: 7:00PM-7:30AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Uses Epic EMR system for documentation
• No on-call requirements
• No local candidates accepted; must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Provide direct patient care, implement and modify care plans, and administer medications
• Perform and document assessments, manage acute and chronic cardiac and pulmonary patients, and provide post-operative care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and delegate tasks as needed
• Maintain patient safety in accordance with institutional standards including fall precautions and pressure ulcer prevention
• Participate in team huddles and ensure thorough bedside shift reports and hourly rounding
• RTO (Requested Time Off) not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers may not be continuously assigned for more than one year; a 6-month break is required before returning
• No travel partners accepted for this assignment

Requirements

• Active IL RN license (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS (AHA) certification
• Minimum of one year relevant nursing experience
• Experience in Level 1 Trauma setting required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Associate’s degree in nursing or higher
• English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing
