Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry position with required cardiac experience and night shifts in Des Moines, IA.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed hospital Telemetry unit with cardiac and vascular surgical patient populations
• Patient types include CABG, ICD, pacemaker, cardiac drips, and vascular surgicals
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Floating is required across all campuses, including Iowa Methodist and Iowa Lutheran
• Patient ratio is 1:6 on nights
• Travelers are required to work every 4th weekend and participate in holiday rotation if scheduled
• Uses Epic EMR; previous Epic experience is required
• Drip/titration experience with medications such as nitro, cardene, heparin, dilt, and dopamine is required
• Tele tech unit monitoring is utilized
• Navy blue solid scrubs are required
• Responsible for caring for patients with complex cardiac conditions and post-surgical needs
• Must be prepared to float among multiple campuses as needed
• Holiday coverage includes working every 4th weekend and holidays as scheduled
• Time-off requests are limited around major winter holidays
• Supervisory reference from within the last two years is preferred
• Local candidates within 50 miles may be subject to different pay policies

Requirements

• Active IA or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
• Minimum of 24 months recent Telemetry or cardiac nursing experience required
• Prior travel contract experience within the last 18 months is required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications are required
• Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation and cardiac drips is required
• Experience with Alaris IV pumps and wound vacs is required
• Completion of a Telemetry-specific skills checklist is required
• Driver’s license required
