Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a VT or compact license, prior travel experience, and strong med surg tele expertise.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adult acute care Med/Surg and telemetry cases
• Day shift with 12-hour shifts
• Requires work every other weekend or scheduling flexibility to meet unit needs
• Specialized procedures performed include NG tube insertion, peripheral IV insertion, and bedside telemetry strip interpretation
• Epic EMR experience within the past two years is required
• Public transportation is not accessible in this area, so reliable personal or rental vehicle is needed
• Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November to April
• Responsibilities include bedside interpretation of telemetry strips, NG tube and peripheral IV insertions
• No block scheduling allowed for any reason
• Work schedule may include any day of the week to support patient care needs
• Holiday coverage may be required as scheduled
• Orientation and initial duties will focus on immediate integration into the unit
• First time travelers will not be considered
• Candidates must possess reliable transportation due to lack of public transit

Requirements

• Active VT or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (NIHSS must be obtained before start)
• Telemetry certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of med surg tele experience OR 3 years of dedicated tele experience required
• Prior travel experience with completion of at least 2 travel assignments in 300+ bed facilities OR experience at any UVMHN acute care facility required
• Epic EMR experience from within the last 2 years is mandatory
• Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
