Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer with at least one year of cardiac experience and current BLS and echocardiography registration.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital setting providing cardiac sonography services
- Perform assessments and a variety of non-invasive ultrasound studies on adults, geriatrics, and occasionally adolescents and pediatric patients
- Procedures include transthoracic echo, transesophageal echo, stress testing, dobutamine and treadmill exercise stress echo, and carotid duplex
- Use both stationary and portable ultrasound equipment
- Schedule is 5x8 hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with rotational weekend coverage and variable start times between 7:00 and 9:00 AM
- Possible call coverage as needed
- Travelers may be scheduled to float to multiple units or locations within the organization based on staffing needs
- Independently perform and adapt diagnostic ultrasound procedures and record clinical preliminary impressions
- Assist with and perform a variety of diagnostic cardiac and vascular procedures
- Communicate preliminary exam impressions to supervising physicians
- Participate as a clinical instructor and clinical resource for staff and learners
- May participate in clinical research projects
- Travelers are the first to float according to facility needs
Requirements
- Minimum of one year cardiac sonography experience required
- Current registration in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS) required
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
- Graduate of an ultrasonography program required
- Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasonography training program preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Ultrasonography, Radiology, Biological Sciences, or a related health sciences field preferred
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the primary work site
- License required if applicable
