Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night position in Illinois with BLS certification and cardiac monitoring skills required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital
• Night shifts available as either 3x12 or 4x12 hours, 18:00-06:30
• Average daily census is 35 patients
• Care for a diverse adult patient population with a variety of medical, cardiac, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, renal, and respiratory cases
• No on-call required
• Floating within scope to other units as needed
• Uses Cerner EMR system
• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, managing feeding tubes, colostomy care, pre/post hemodialysis, accessing ports, administering blood products, central line management, and respiratory interventions
• Work every other weekend as part of the regular schedule
• Level II Trauma Center with 372 staffed beds
• Scrub colors are blue, black, or gray
• Free parking permit provided during orientation
• Up to five days of time off may be requested
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions

Requirements

• Active IL RN license or in application process with proof of ETA
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience including telemetry and rapid response
• Experience with gastrointestinal and genitourinary/renal case management, IV therapy, medication administration, respiratory care, isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac use
• Cerner charting experience required
• First-time travelers will not be considered
