Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level I trauma center position in Illinois, requiring at least three years of OR and trauma experience.

Details

Work in the Operating Room of an acute care, Magnet-designated Level I trauma hospital
Assignment involves all service lines except cardiovascular (CV) surgery
23 operating rooms with diverse surgical case types including bariatrics, general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and trauma
Patient populations include bariatric, emergency/trauma, neuro, ortho, plastics, general surgery, transplant, and urology
Day shift: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM (3x12s, weekends required)
On-call required approximately once per week
Rare floating within skill set may be required to meet facility needs
Uses Cerner EMR; experience preferred
Scrubs are provided for this role

Requirements

Active IL RN license in hand or in process
Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience required
Required certifications: BLS; CNOR and CST preferred
Level I trauma OR experience required
General OR and trauma experience required
Documented experience in bariatric, general, neuro, ortho, plastics, transplant, trauma, and urology surgical cases as listed
Must have experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables
Experience in code response, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, time out protocols, and urinary catheterization required
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to apply
First-time travelers are not accepted

Additional Information

Responsibilities include preparing and circulating during complex surgical procedures and emergency cases
Work as part of an interdisciplinary surgical team in a high acuity, fast-paced environment
Parking permit provided at no cost; form completed during orientation
All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the manager
Orientation and training provided at the start of the assignment
