Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position with night shifts and cardiac monitoring and emergency response requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital
• Level II Trauma center with 372 staffed beds
• Average daily census is 35 patients
• Night shifts available with options of 3x12 or 4x12 hours (18:00-06:30)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibility
• Floating within scope may be required based on department needs
• Patient care includes telemetry monitoring, cardiac, gastrointestinal, renal, IV therapy, medication, and respiratory cases
• Uses Cerner EMR system
• Provide nursing care for a diverse medical-surgical patient population including cardiac, GI, renal, and respiratory cases
• Utilize isolation precautions and wound care techniques, including Wound Vac
• Blue, black, or gray scrubs are required
• Free parking is available after permit completion during orientation
• Schedule requests should be discussed directly with the manager
• Ideally, time off should not exceed 5 days during the assignment
• Local candidates are accepted without a distance radius limitation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license or in the application process with an expected timeline
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and emergency response, including use of Rapid Response Teams
• Skills required include colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure management, central line and PICC line care, IV starts, blood product administration, and PCA
• Experience with respiratory care including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen therapy, and tracheostomy management
• Must have Cerner charting experience
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
