Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a GA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent Med/Tele experience.
Details
- Work on Med/Surg and Telemetry units within a large teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation
- Patient ratios are RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, and CNA up to 1:14
- Care for a diverse range of adult medical/surgical patients with telemetry monitoring
- Float to all Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed, functioning as part of a float pool
- Night shifts from 7PM-7AM with every other weekend required
- Central telemetry monitoring unit
- Utilizes EMR system Epic, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred and EKG competency exam required during onboarding
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
- Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer, and managing insulin and heparin drips
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Must provide a professional reference from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN dated within one year
- Returning employees must have a separation of at least 1 year from any previous perm position at the facility

- Provide comprehensive care for adults with a variety of medical and surgical conditions requiring telemetry
- Team-oriented environment supported by CNAs, charge nurses, a PICC team, and 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Centralized support from unit secretaries and resource nurses
- Orientation includes one day of facility overview and two days of departmental training
- Scrub color for RNs is navy
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- No radius rule; local travelers are accepted at the same rate
- Free parking is available around campus, with additional paid parking deck options
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
