Job Description

American Traveler seeks a Speech Language Pathologist with 2+ years of acute care experience and KY or compact licensure for a 13-week assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based speech therapy unit
• Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
• Rotation of 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next week
• May be required to take call if absolutely necessary
• Patient population includes individuals requiring acute care and those with tracheostomies
• Perform bedside and modified barium swallow studies
• Provide evaluation and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing disorders
• Independently conduct modified barium swallowing studies and bedside assessments
• Comfortable managing patients with tracheostomies during therapy sessions
• May be called upon for consults or urgent therapy needs during on-call situations
• Professional dress or scrubs as required by hospital policy
• Travel pairs are not allowed unless there are multiple needs on the unit
• No local candidates will be considered due to a 100-mile radius rule

Requirements

• Current and valid KY or compact state license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience as a speech therapist
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• ACLS certification required
• Experience with bedside and modified barium swallow studies required
• Certification in Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Vital Stim preferred
• Competency in caring for patients with tracheostomies
• Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility
