Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with at least 2 years of experience and NMTCB and BLS certifications for a hospital-based 10-hour day shift position.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based nuclear medicine setting serving inpatients and outpatients, with occasional pediatric outpatients
• Expected patient ratio is 1:1, with an average of 5-6 patients per day
• Duties include radiopharmaceutical preparation, patient imaging, and operating gamma cameras, PET/CT, and SPECT equipment
• Uses Cerner RadNet EMR, Siemens ECAM, and GE 630 equipment preferred
• No floating required
• 10-hour day shifts starting at 7:00 am
• Weekday on-call requirements include two shifts from 5:00 pm to 6:00 am
• Every third weekend requires a 24-hour on-call shift
• Holiday coverage includes one major and one minor holiday per hospital policy
• Responsibilities include routine equipment quality control, adhering to radiation safety standards, and responding to procedure complications
• Role involves both independent work and collaboration within an imaging team
• Orientation includes one 8-hour hospital orientation plus 2-3 unit shifts
• Returning perm staff must wait at least 6 months before being considered as a traveler
• Time off requests beyond 5 days require manager approval and contract extension
• Scrub requirements follow department policy

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in nuclear medicine
• NMTCB and BLS certifications required
• Ability to prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and perform IV access
• Proficiency in patient imaging, positioning, and equipment quality control
• Knowledge of ALARA principles, radiation safety, and emergency response procedures
• Cerner RadNet experience preferred
• License required if applicable
• First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of relevant experience
• Must live more than 60 miles from the facility
