Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with an active IL RN license, vascular and ophthalmology experience, and a minimum of 2 years of operating room nursing.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the main Operating Room of an acute care teaching and magnet hospital
• Day shift position with 5x8 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Call is pre-assigned; 1-2 call shifts per week are required
• Weekend work required: 2-3 weekend days per 8 week schedule
• Holiday coverage is flexible, allowing staff to pick up a call assignment or fill coverage gaps
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 on all shifts
• Covers a unit with 16 OR rooms
• Uses Epic for charting
• Scrub attire is provided
• Perform circulating and scrubbing duties for a wide range of surgical procedures including DaVinci robotic cases
• Work in a Level II trauma center with a multidisciplinary surgical team
• Orientation and team support provided in a teaching hospital environment
• No radius restriction; local candidates are accepted
• Free onsite employee parking available
• Max of 5 days of requested time off is preferred

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of application
• BLS certification required; CNOR preferred
• Minimum of 2 years OR RN experience required
• Vascular and ophthalmology OR experience required
• General OR experience and vascular call experience required
• CVOR and Hybrid OR experience preferred
• Required case experience with Endo/Laparoscopic, General, Ophthalmology, Urology, and Vascular procedures
• Specific vascular, general surgery, ophthalmology, urology, and trauma amputation experience required as listed
• Experience with electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords required
• Professional knowledge in blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, infection control, laser/radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, and Universal Protocol required
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred or required
• First-time travelers are not accepted
