Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg correctional facility assignment in Illinois requiring an active IL RN license and mandatory floating.

Responsibilities

• Work in a correctional facility Med/Surg unit environment
• Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Mandatory floating to other units and Cook County facilities up to 50 miles as needed
• No block scheduling accommodations allowed
• Uses Cerner for electronic charting
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free, first come first serve parking available
• Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed per contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days, no holiday or weekend RTO, and no RTO before or after a holiday
• May be floated to units outside primary area of competency with team-based model support
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance
• Non-compliance with floating or absence rules may lead to contract termination

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at the time of application
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum of 2 years recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Correctional nursing experience preferred
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility
• COVID vaccine required
