Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of acute care experience for a Level 1 trauma hospital using Epic EMR.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care hospital setting with inpatient and rehab focus
- Average caseload of 4-5 patients per day within a 21-bed unit
- Diverse patient population including orthopedic, neurological, and medically complex cases of all ages
- Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, generally 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with 1-2 weekends per month required
- No on-call required
- Access to specialized rehabilitation equipment such as UE Bioness and Dynavision
- Uses Epic EMR for all documentation
- Primary duties include patient evaluation, individualized therapy interventions, attending team conferences, and appropriate use of modalities
- Responsible for ongoing assessment, adjusting treatment plans, and discharge planning for medically complex patients
- Must coordinate efficiently with an interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety, communication, and smooth care transitions
- Supervision of certified occupational therapist assistants, aides, or students may be required
- Training includes 1–2 days for computer documentation and several days for departmental onboarding
- Required to badge in and out at the facility
- Dress code is business casual or scrub polo (ceil blue, khaki, gray, or chocolate brown); jeans are not permitted
- Position is open to local candidates with an adjusted pay rate for those residing within an 80-mile radius
- Previous employees must have ended employment at least 6 months prior to consideration for this position
Requirements
- Active Occupational Therapist license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience
- Current BLS certification required
- Strong skills in evaluating and treating medically complex and unstable patients
- Familiarity with documenting in Epic or similar EMR preferred

Parking at the facility can be a pain if you have a late start. In other words, anything after 6:30am.
